Dikanda was founded in 1997 in Szczecin, Poland, and over the course of its nearly 30-year history, the group has released eight albums and performed more than 2,000 concerts around the world.
 
From the United States to Bangladesh, from Sweden to Morocco—their immense popularity with audiences has also been reflected in numerous awards and accolades.
 
Musically, the ensemble belongs to the world music genre. Dikanda’s concerts are a fiery, emotionally charged journey through a wide variety of sounds, places, and feelings.
 
The group’s members draw inspiration from encounters that lend their music an unexpected, astonishing, and bold richness of sound. Influences from the Balkans, the Middle East, the Carpathians, the Orient, and Africa make Dikanda’s songs a unique auditory experience.
 
The two singers, Anna Witczak-Czerniawska and Katarzyna Bogusz, sing in “Dikandish,” a language unique to the band that is characterized by the creation of new words. One of the many positive messages they bring to the 3LSF is unmistakable despite their unique language: Come together and celebrate peacefully with one another!
