Bonds Big Band is an ensemble affiliated with the Weil am Rhein Municipal Music School that has been active for 16 years. Founded and artistically directed by clarinetist and saxophonist Christian Leitherer, the big band has already performed concerts in Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and many regions of Germany.

Some of the young musicians have more than 350 performances under their belts. In addition to performing jazz, rock, and pop music, Bonds Big Band has also performed as a marching band (Milan, 2019) and has performed contemporary commissioned compositions (St. Louis, 2017).

In 2026, around 45 “Bonds” aged 10 to 22 will perform in three ensembles at more than 30 public events of all kinds. The members receive instrumental instruction in bass, clarinet, trumpet, flute, saxophone, trombone, French horn, and percussion primarily from teachers at the Weil am Rhein Municipal Music School.

At this year’s 3LSF, these up-and-coming talents will once again demonstrate their musical prowess!
